dermorganics hair care review and giveaway

I'm no beauty blogger, but it's fun to occasionally get the opportunity to "play" one on the Internet. I got my chance when the nice folks at DermOrganic sent me some hair care products to review – Conditioning Shampoo, Hydrating Conditioner, Intensive Masque, and Leave-In Treatment.

I was excited to try them – I've been using the same shampoo [Deva Curl No Poo] and Conditioner [cheapo Trader Joe's Refresh ] for years, and I fear I'm in a hair care rut. I have problematic baby-fine, curly hair that, like most curly hair, is very dry and never looks the same two days in a row. During summer, especially when it's humid, I get little ringlets, but in the winter, I just get a dry mess of chaos. The bone-dry humidity and forced-air heat don't help my cause.

Before even trying these products, I liked the fact that, besides being vegan and cruelty-free, they are also gluten- and paraben-free. I've been reading a lot about parabens lately. They are known to disrupt hormone function and they're linked into breast cancer. Who needs them? I've been weaning myself off of any personal care item that contains them. DermOrganic products are all made with cold-pressed Moroccan argan oil, the "new-new" ancient ingredient in the news these days.

My hair is actually behaving in winter thanks to DermOrganic. No frizz!
In a nutshell, I really loved these products! Although like most curly girls, I will never have shiny locks, these wonders actually added a ton of body and sheen to my winter-weary hair. I first tried the shampoo – lovely smell and a little goes a long way, even with Philadelphia's hard water. Next, I applied the masque to my moisture-starved hair. My tresses drank it right up [I did have to use a third of the bottle, but that's just me.]

Next was the Leave-In Treatment. Love at first try. This is my new favorite product, and I will absolutely buy this again. First, it smells so wonderful – sweet, citrusy, light – that you could also use it as perfume. Needless to say it makes your hair smell great, and it also adds moisture and sheen. The web site said the Leave-in Treatment "speeds up drying time by 40%." I was especially curious to try this because my hair takes forever to dry, even though it's baby fine.  I was skeptical, but it actually did speed up the drying time, though not by 40%. Instructions say to use this when your hair is wet, which I did. But I've also tried rubbing a dollop into my palms and distributing it through dry hair. I like both applications. The Conditioner was also nice – light and moisturizing, and it kept its promise to "control frizz."

My dream hair care product would be a shampoo or conditioner that I could use that would let my wavy hair air dry stick straight! My blow dryer would be glad for a break!

A product that smells amazing and controls frizz and accentuates my natural waves :)

I would love a shampoo/conditioner that controls frizz

Dynise, this giveaway is a dream come true for me! I also have curly, fine hair that I'm having difficulty finding the right shampoo/conditioner combo to treat. I've been using Desert Organics for years, but I'm finding my hair is dry and tangly at the end of the day and have been looking for new products. These sound fantastic, thank you!

Mine would be a product that would create the most smooth, bouncy spiral curls with tons of shine! I have them, but I can never find the right product to show them off!

My dream hair care product would make my hair have beautiful beach waves or smooth and sleek. Depending on my mood! Is that too much to ask?

My dream hair product doesn't fade my henna colored hair and keeps my long curls moisturized. And it's not animal tested too!

Something that lets me air dry my natural waves without weighing down my fine hair...dream come true!

Fun fun giveaway!

My dream haircare product would leave animals the hell alone. (Excuse the language, but it's language worthy.) AND it would give my hair that sexy, shiny, bouncy style that the Breck and Pantene commercials promise but don't deliver. (My hairdresser told me that she can tell in an instant if someone uses Pantene. She says it leaves a waxy build up and she has to wash their hair up to three times in a row to get it off. Otherwise her scissors can't cut the hair right.)

Anyway, that was long-winded, but there you go. Wonderful give-away! Thanks for hosting it!

I'd like a vegan, yummy smelling, wallet friendly, only have to use a drop of it, anti-frizz product. It would be packaged in environmentally friendly packaging, and it would be awesome, ha!

I have enough hormone issues as it is, so paraben-free is the way to be for me too. I'd love to try this brand.

These products sound PERFECT for me right now! I have very long hair that I will keep until my 2014 wedding. But I am also training for multiple races, and the swimming is just killing my hair. It is frizz city over here! I would love to find a product like this, but maybe add some TLC for long hair to grow longer? I might need to go out and buy these!

My dream hair care product would be one that gives me more volume and strength. I've tried lots of different shampoos and conditioners, but so far, no extra volume! Thanks for hosting such a fun giveaway.

I ned a little more volume. I would like a friendly product that works without having to use as many products.

I stay away from parabens too and sodium lauryl sulfate, which so often shows up in shampoos and body washes. My dream product would give my hair plenty of moisture, because our water is very harsh and drying.

I would love a product that was paraben free and could gift shine and lift to my fine, straight hair.

I'd love a product that is organic, contains no chemicals, is vegan and smells divine. Something that tames my "humid head" would be a huge plus.

I really wish there was a cheaper, vegan product that would make straight hair have more body. My plain hair never looks different, a little different from your problem! And of course it has to smell good.

A product to combat split ends! Preferably with jojoba oil and smelling like mint, eucalyptus, or rosemary.

Organic, vegan, smells awesome but not perfumey, no gross stuff I can't define or pronounce, and actually affordable! That's not too much to ask, is it? ;p

I'd like a shampoo/conditioner set that would give my hair texture! My hair can't hold a twist or rumple for anything.

Dream product - vegan and not drying! I've been using Desert Essence, but my hair is not as soft as it usually is. I've been on the hunt for a new vegan product.

I use organic bar soap for my hair, but then again its pretty short. Check out my post on Benefits Of Wheat Grass at http://www.vegansgoraw.com/benefits-of-wheatgrass/

I'd love to find a product that smoothed out my frizz, but helped me keep some volume. I find most hair products to be either too greasy, or too much like shellac. Something in the middle would be amazing!

Count me in on the no frizz train too! *CHOO CHOO* My dream hair care products would also help protect against split ends and make my naturally wavy hair amazing.

I've tried a number of cruelty-free hair products and they've all fallen short. Optomistic about this product line.

I'd love a haircare product that reduces frizz and makes my aging hair SHINE! It goes without saying that the product would be organic, natural and kind to animals!

I have curly hair too. I want something that will keep my hair from tangling throughout the day.

I echo what a few others have said; a product that is vegan and cruelty free. In addition, I'd love for it to make my hair truly healthy and not weigh it down. An added bonus: a decent price! So many of the ones I want to try are well outside of my budget!!

My dream hair product would calm down my frizz while also being cruelty free.

My dream hair care product would be vegan and cruelty free but would also work--it's unfortunate that these two don't always seem to go together. I also have fine, curly and sometimes wavy hair; it's indecisive, so I'd love a product that could address the frizz and that I wouldn't have to use every day.

My dream product would make my hair shiny, frizz-free, and detangled without being greasy!

It would also be free of all bad ingredients!

My Dream hair care product is one that won't leave any build-up in my hair, won't strip it of natural oils or hair color, control frizz, give it shine, moisturize and most importantly repair my hair over time.

I came by to say hi to you and your beautiful blog, and was so excited to see this post. I too have dry, curly hair, and have been searching for a line of hair care that is cruelty free, chemical free, vegan, and most of all is moisturizing. I am so tired of the winter frizzys! So it looks like this is my dream haircare product right here!

Thanks for sharing Dynise!

We all have different opinions with regard to virgin Brazilian Hair Weave, but this I can say: there are a lot of pros than cons. And I am absolutely happy I got one Brazilian human hair extension from www.abhair.com, because now, I can totally have a different hair style during parties without cutting or coloring my hair permanently.
