When people hear I'm vegan and ask, "But what do you eat?"
I can't help but laugh. The more appropriate question is, "What don't you eat?" [Answer: animal products.] What do I eat and drink? Everything else, and then some!
A cantaloupe bubble drink is amazingly refreshing for breakfast. It's made with cantaloupe, soy milk, coconut milk and black tapioca pearls. You can find the recipe in my cookbook, The Urban Vegan: 250 Simple, Sumptuous Recipes from Street Cart Favorites to Haute Cuisine.
Avocado, mango chutney, vegan cheddar, hummus, and sprouts on black Russian bread, eaten al fresco on a gorgeous Saturday at Dr X's.
Sour Worms. The nice folks at SurfSweets sent me some sample candies to try. Not only are their sweets tasty and colorful; many of their products also provide a full serving of vitamin C and a few also contain calcium and iron. This is one candy you can feel good about feeding to your kids – or yourself.

That food looks amazing, especially the quiche with the millet crust.
Everything looks delish!
Oh man, that quiche looks amazing! If you ever make it again can you please post a recipe? :D
Lovely post - I'm drooling over your bubble drink! I'll have to pull out my copy of your cookbook and give it a whirl :)
PS I answer that "what-do-you-eat" question in the same way! "It's easier to tell you what I don't eat..."
are those gummies gelatin free? or made with vegetarian gelatin? the thing i miss the most is gummy bears!
I made the lemon coconut cake on Saturday for a bbq, it was a big hit
Looks like a tasty day!
Anonymouse: SurfSweets are all VEGAN! So enjoy...
In France it's just, well, IMPOSSIBLE to find cruelty-free candies, i mean it!
In 'regular' supermarket you can probable find 4 or 5 (you know like old-school candies, pine-sap taste or so).
Byt the way, everything you cook just makes me hungry! All the time! (so most of the time not at the best moment because i'm just fixed to my computer screen ahahah)
Great post - have you seen the lovely poster that Herbivore have just put out to answer the question of what does a vegan eat?
http://teaandsympatico.blogspot.com/
you are not starving, that is obvious!
Re: SurfSweets. The sour gummies are vegan. However, the other regular gummies all have gelatin in them and definitely NOT vegan...
I've been wanting to make that bundt cake! That sandwich looks very tasty right now.
It is funny when people ask that question. Obviously they don't think about what they eat or what they don't eat. Most of those people don't eat much vegetables or fruit.
I love bubble teas and that one looks great!
