Awhile back, I bought some amazing raw kale chips at Whole Foods. Damn tasty, but since they cost almost $8 for a small box, they could only be an occasional splurge at best. Last week, after receiving yet another ubiquitous bunch of kale in 3 consecutive CSA share pickups, the thought yet another pot of kale sauteed with garlic just wasn't doing it for me. This kale overload inspired me to try making my own kale chips. It was so easy and flavorful that I will never again look at CSA-share kale with disdain.

no-fail kale chips

Look at kale with disdain? Never! I can't get enough of dijon-marinated raw kale salad.
God, I love kale chips. And yes, they are WAY expensive when you buy 'em pre-made. I prefer to make my own too. :-)
Kale chips are so delicious! I love em with curry and cayenne powder.
The kale teeth check is very important! I eat kale multiple times a day most days, and it has a way of embedding itself into teeth in a most unflattering way. :D (Do you see any kale in that smile?)
Mmm! Sounds great. One of my favourite kale recipes is massaged kale salad: http://books.google.com/books?id=ZNN8Cgwmj3kC&pg=PA15&dq=ari%27s+massaged+kale+salad#v=onepage&q=ari%27s%20massaged%20kale%20salad&f=false
Cadry: Hate to tell you, but you have kale in your teeth ;)
thanks for the recipe! I can't afford a dehydrator or store bought kale chips so this rules!
This sure is a quick and easy recipe. Thanks. I love kale chips!
Oh yum. It doesn't get better than kale chips. I love that weird crinkling noise they make when you take them off the baking sheet.
Hmm... You've inspired me. Maybe I'll make some tomorrow.
wow.........it looks very delicious snacks, i want wait to have a try.
Dynise! Hopefully you don't mind me leaving a completely unrelated to kale chips question here. I was thinking of making the celebration cake from your book for my birthday, but when I looked at the recipe..I wasn't sure. I was planning a lemon curd filling, raspberry frosting, I had envisioned more of a classic white cake. I'm thinking this recipe sounds more dense? Also, could I ditch the liqueur, maybe sub in some vanilla extract? Thanks for any input, and awesome recipes lately!
I'd never had kale chips before, and today I tried your recipe. I did half with just salt and the other half with the nutritional yeast and crushed red peppers. The red pepper ones just went in the oven, but the salted ones are delicious! Thank you so much for the recipe.
I have some kale I was trying to figure out what to do with, thanks for providing me with an answer.
Wow chips!! I love chips and this cheap is better since it is a healthy chips. Great for my kids.
