spiced wafers
Crayon-box landscapes. Delicious sleeping weather. An inexplicable urge to revisit your abandoned knitting projects. Fall is coming--you can't feel it in the air and see it in the changing light. Another great thing about the impending autumn is that Spiced Wafers make their much-awaited appearance on grocery store shelves. I love to dip these crunchy molasses cookies in my soy cappucino–especially when the morning air is as crisp as crackers. This brand [Sweetzel's] is a Philly tradition.

Oh, yes! I love those, with a cup of hot apple cider. One of many good things about fall!
Ahh, if only they were gluten-free/soy-free.... oh well. Enjoy an extra wafer for me, please!! :-D
Mmm. I am from Philly but I go to school in Hawaii, and right now am yearning for that crisp autumnal feeling. Spiced wafers--yum!
I've never even heard of Spiced Wafers! I'll have to look out for those. They sound delicious!!! I see that you can pre-order the cookbook now. Is there a projected release date?
The whole thing must be a Philly tradition because, sadly, I've never even heard of spiced wafers. I am closing my eyes and imagining the scent though — ginger, cinnamon, allspice. Am I close?
I love this image: Crayon-box landscapes.
Those look SUPER delish, I love the box!
I had preordered your book and was eagerly waiting for it in early October;I was very happily surprised when I received it yesterday!! It looks and feels very beautifull. My only problem is I cannot easily pick what to make first!!!
Congratulations on the beautifull book and thank you very much.
Thank you, Anonymouse!
Those are my favorites too!
Molasses- the forgotten sweet treat..
I still enjoy, and use it, light and dark(Blackstrap)!
Oh those sound good! Thanks!
ok, we have totally opposite blog posts right now! ;-)
I've never heard of these either. Apparently, I'm missing something comforting & yummy.
Don't you just love this time of year? My favorite!
you "can't" feel it in the air?
My cookbook arrived today!!!! I'm so excited! It's beautiful!
Love your new look!
I grew up in Philly and can remember those wonderful spiced wafers from my childhood. We always had them on hand. Thank you for showing this picture!. I live in Sacramento and while there is much to love, there's just nothing like having a spiced wafer on a crisp autumn day.
We love spiced wafers in the fall. We moved to Florida a few years ago and have been buying the cookies from an online store Aruntx Premium Shopping Marketplace. They arrive carefully packed in a timely fashion. Highly recommend this autumn treat. By the way we dunk em in hot coffee.

I've never seen these before, but then again, I don't live in the Philly area. Sounds delicious!
