And now for a break from our regularly scheduled food posts. I just wanted to show you how much I heart my new Flor rug. I'm so sold on the modular design approach; it boasts so many advantages:
- You design the rug yourself based on your taste, the level of padding you want and the size you need to cover.
- If a square gets ruined [with 3 kitties, this is highly likely], I can easily replace it instead of having to trash the whole rug.
- Concerning cleaning, I can scrub one square at a time.
- If I get bored with the design, I can change the tiles around.
- The rug is forever scalable, if for example, one day I move into a smaller space, I can split the rug into two smaller ones. If I win the lottery and can finally buy that NYC penthouse I've been dreaming of, I can purchase more tiles to create a larger rug.

I'm sold, AND I need a new rug. Thanks!
Thank you for posting this; this may be the answer to our rug prayers! :)
Everything you said about Flor is true — to a point. I loved my rug until something spilled, and the liquid went through the seams to the wood. I had to lift the whole thing up to dry the floor and the rug bottom. Once I removed a square to dry, it wouldn't stick back correctly without several new "dots" on the back, so be sure to get extras. I find it hard to clean underneath. When you lift it up, it doesn't always lie back down correctly. It looked beautiful for a while, but with dogs and people always around, it's not working as well as I'd hoped. Maybe you will have better luck with your beautiful-looking rug.
I love modular design as well. My tastes easily change from one day to the next and it's the most cost effective way to keep me happy! I have a Love Sac modular furniture set that I adore. (right now it is a chaise and a loveseat)I will definitely be looking into this rug. Thanks!
Your rug is very nice. I look through the online catalogue and admit the most beautiful is yours. My compliments on your selection of colors. The square ideas is very good. It is the first time I hear about this.
What a great idea - especially when you are talking about stains. And it looks great!
I consider you as an amazing woman- the largest compliment I have! Taste colliding with class- it doesn't get any better! Don't ever quit doing what you're doing...
Awesome!!
I am in desperate need of a rug for the new house we just moved into. I have been really unhappy with the rugs I've seen out there. Not to mention all the wool! I think I may have found an answer to my problems! Thanks!
Hi Dynise,
First - love the rug, love your blog!
Second - I have a specific question about a recipe I discovered in the Grid. Could you contact me so that I can ask you about it in more detail? Thank you!
Rich
Hey Rich: Please leave your question about the GRID recipe as a comment here or in a more recent post and I'll do my best to answer it.
Hi again Dynise - actually I wanted to tell you that we found your recipe for Humble and Hearty Vegetable Soup in the Grid. We made it yesterday and it is fantastic.
In fact, we would love to have it on our vegetarian recipe site, with all due credit and a link to your blog of course! Our site is:

Looks great. I use carpet tiles the same way, sadly not such great quality, colours and patterns as your wonderful Flor. Hopefully they get them in South Africa soon :)
Hi again Dynise -
Still interested in posting your recipe for veggie soup on our site.
But I really wanted to alert you to the fact that Philly has a great new restaurant you might want to check out...you can find them at:
http://www.thoreaurestaurant.com
They bill themselves as vegetarian but will make any dish vegan as well. Super!
My Best!
Rich
Oh, this looks great for our animal filled house!
Rich: Post away and enjoy!
Can't wait to try Thoreau (Read Thoreau voraciosuly as a kid). Please post a link so I can tweet 4 U.
Hi Dynise - Thank you so much for the great recipe! You can see it here:

I like reading articles and posts over the Internet, and I found your site and read your posts, I like here, so I bookmark your site, thank you for your posts.
I saw this then went to their website hoping their stuff was vegan and then they said they used wool in some of their stuff. I am wondering if they have vegan stuff listed or how you found their vegan stuff assuming they actually have wool free and animal free stuff?
For those unaware of what veganism is because they came for the rug:
"The word 'veganism' denotes a philosophy and way of living which seeks to end the idea of animals as property and exclude all forms of intentional exploitation of, use of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing, research or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, including people and the environment.
In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals."
LVSV:
In their catalogs, they list the fiber content for each square. Of course my squares are vegan.
Thanks a bunch I will have to consider them : )
